Entertainment journalist and editor Jessica Bennett hails from Compton, Calif., developing a love for music and Hip-Hop culture as a child who spent her first allowance on Foxy Brown's 'Ill Na Na' cassette tape at nine years old. Interning at 'The Oakland Post' before moving to New York City for college in 2005, Bennett majored in Communications while minoring in Music History, bringing that knowledge to her first post-university internship with 'The Source' magazine, where she was assigned her first major feature highlighting Raekwon's 'Only Built 4 Cuban Linx... Pt. II' in 2009. The Hip-Hop head also developed her own column, 'Welcome To Compton' on DJBooth.net, and was Executive Editor of indie Hip-Hop mag 'Rhymes & Dimes,' discussing trending news within Hip-Hop and Black culture. She went on to fill editorial roles at publications such as Ebony Magazine (Entertainment Editor) and The New York Post/Page Six, where she further developed her beat into more mainstream and pop culture coverage. Interview subjects include Viola Davis, Nipsey Hussle, Forest Whitaker, Kevin Hart, John Boyega, Tyra Banks, Ashanti, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Mathew Knowles, Tamala Mann, Magic & Cookie Johnson and countless others. In addition to music/entertainment, Bennett has also covered beauty, fashion, travel and lifestyle for various brands. Bennett joined the #VibeTribe as News Editor in September 2022.
