Michelle Williams recently visited the Jennifer Hudson Show where she opened up a bit about the longstanding bond she shares with her Destiny’s Child sisters, Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland. On Tuesday’s episode (Feb. 11), the 45-year-old singer gave fans some insight into the trio’s private group chat.
When host Hudson asked, “What’s the Destiny’s Child group text like?” Williams didn’t hold back. “It is pure, it’s friendship, it’s all of those things,” she shared, emphasizing the unshakable relationship she still has with Beyoncé, 43, and Rowland, 44, over two decades later.
Hudson then pressed further, asking a burning question fans want to know: “Who’s the most talkative out of you three?” Without hesitation the “Heard a Word” singer admitted, “Surprisingly me.” The response drew an amused reaction from Hudson, who playfully added, “I feel like it’s you, Michelle.”
However, Williams wasn’t entirely sure she should take the talkative title by herself. She added, “I don’t know … [maybe] Kelly now,” she said. Hudson agreed, noting, “Kelly can talk,” ahead of Williams adding, “Yep, yep, yep. It depends.”
Although Destiny’s Child released their final album Destiny Fulfilled 20 years ago, the Grammy-winning trio has remained close, continuing to support one another’s endeavors. In December, Williams shared with PEOPLE how much it meant to have Beyoncé and Rowland attend the opening night of her Broadway musical Death Becomes Her, where she plays Viola Van Horn.
“It was an absolute joy having them there because I know they’re fans of the movie,” she said at the time. “It was really a joy to have them come to see something that I’m equally excited about as well.” Despite performing solo in the production, Williams revealed that their presence in the audience “anchored” her, offering a familiar sense of unity.
“Having them there, I felt anchored,” she admitted. “We obviously have not been touring together for years, but it took me back to the time when I’d been with them on stage. Even though they weren’t on stage with me, I felt so grounded. It’s giving me some fuel for the rest of my run in the show.”
She also credited Rowland with pushing her to take the role, jokingly saying, “Our relationship might have been threatened if I didn’t do this show.” With support from both Rowland and Beyoncé, stepping back onto the Broadway stage after six years felt “right.”
Williams expressed just how much their presence in the audience meant to her. “I would rather be performing with them if I’m gonna be performing at all,” she said. “They’re just so strengthening. Their presence gave me wind for my sails to go on.”
