What is eSIM? (original) (raw)

(province:)including: /en/support/content-main/esim.inc

An eSIM, short for embedded SIM, is a digital SIM that’s built into certain mobile devices. It lets you activate a plan with a phone number without needing a physical SIM card. An eSIM-only device can only be activated on eSIM. There is no slot on the device for a physical SIM card.

Activation a line with an eSIM

If you are bringing an eSIM-compatible phone to Virgin Plus, you can choose to activate your Mobility service with an eSIM instead of a physical SIM card.

For new line activations, visit a Virgin Plus store.

If you just want to convert your existing Virgin Plus Mobility service from a physical SIM card in your device to an eSIM, log in to My Account.

Learn more about transferring your service to an eSIM (on the same device or on a new device).

eSIM-compatible devices

eSIM compatibility may vary for models purchased outside of Canada. Please check with your manufacturer if you have any doubts.

* Any iPad launched in 2024 and later are eSIM only (No Physical SIM slot).
