Internet Draft 07 (August 12, 1996)

Internet Draft 07 of August 12, which differs only from Draft 06 to fix minor problems of an editorial nature, was approved for proposed standard in late August. It later got the RFC number 2068.

Internet Draft 06 (July 3, 1996)

Internet Draft 06 of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1 document is available. It reflects the state of discussions as of Wednesday, July 3, 1996. It differs in one significant way from draft 05: the accept header syntax was broken and had to be fixed; this was discovered during the IETF Last Call period. It was replaced by Internet Draft 07 of August 12, which differs only from Draft 06 to fix minor problems of an editorial nature, and which was approved for proposed standard in late August.

Internet Draft 05 (June 7, 1996)

Internet Draft 05 of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1 document is available. This draft was the first draft submitted to the IESG for Proposed Standard, and was replaced by Drafts 06 and 07 in response to Last Call comments. It reflects the state of discussions as of Friday, June 7, 1996.

Internet Draft 03 (May 2, 1996)

Internet Draft 02 (April 22, 1996)

Editor's note: This version of the draft is quite ragged, as it represents the first time that the functionality has been merged in one place; it needs reorganization, rewrite of new material, and redefinition of some of the terminology. It will be superceeded soon by one which has had some real editing.

The Word version is most useful; you'll find annotations to indicate why edits were made (or can work from an issue back to the changes); if Word isn't available to you, you'll find the Postscript nearly as useful, with both change bars and strikeouts and underlines for replacement text.

It has been written by Roy T. Fielding, Henrik Frystyk Nielsen, andTim Berners-Lee.

HTTP 1.0 (Informational RFC 1945)

The seventh (and last) release of the HTTP/1.0 spec is available. This specification became an Internet Informational RFC, which has now been issued (RFC 1945). No standards track activity will occur with HTTP/1.0. The authors are Tim Berners-Lee, Roy T. Fielding, and Henrik Frystyk Nielsen on behalf of the IETF HTTP working group.
