Scope
The XML Coordination Group provides a forum for coordination between the Working Groups of the XML Activity, and between the XML Activity and other parts of W3C, and between the XML Activity and other organizations.
The XML Coordination Group is a Coordination Group of the W3C and follows the Coordination Group process described in the W3C Process Document.
The XML Coordination Group is responsible for:
- coordinating issues between XML Activity working groups, whether technical, procedural or logistical (for example, agreeing upon meeting dates to avoid conflicts)
- recommending the creation and dissolution of WGs within its chartered scope
- coordinating with other groups within W3C, including other coordination groups, interest groups, the TAG, or others, as and when needed
- discussing technical questions as needed
- coordination of press and media relations and speaking appearances for the Working Groups in the Activity
Deliverables
The XML Coordination Group itself has no required deliverables; those are produced by Working Groups.
Duration
The expiration date of this charter is 31 May 2015.
Coordination Group participation
The XML Coordination Group membership consists of
- the Coordination Group chair and W3C Team contacts
- the Chairs of the XML Activity Working Groups (or their delegates, if the Chair is not available)
- liaisons with other Coordination groups, Working Groups or other groups, as needed
- In addition, the XForms Working Group participates, although it is not formally part of the XML Activity.
The participants' involvement required by this Group include biweekly (fortnightly) teleconferences, mailing list and occasional face-to-face meetings.
Chair
The initial chair of the XML Coordination Group is Liam Quin of W3C.
W3C Team resources
The initial Team contact for the XML Coordination Group is Liam Quin. Approximately 5% FTE are currently allocated to this Group.
Meeting Schedule and Record
The XML Coordination Group meets by phone every other week, and once or twice a year meets face-to-face if enough participants will be in the same place together.
Communications
XML Coordination Group participants communicate via an archivedmailing list, w3c-xml-cg. This list is Member-confidential.
The home page of the Coordination Group is intended to be generally useful for the entire XML Activity.
Confidentiality
The proceedings of this Coordination Group are Member-confidential, subject to exceptions made by the Chair with the Coordination Group's agreement.
Patent Disclosures
The XML Coordination Group provides an opportunity to share perspectives on XML in general. W3C reminds Coordination Group participants of their obligation to comply with patent disclosure obligations as set out in Section 6 of the W3C Patent Policy. While the Coordination Group does not produce Recommendation-track documents, when Coordination Group participants review Recommendation-track specifications from Working Groups, the patent disclosure obligations do apply.
About this Charter
This charter has been created according tosection 6.2 of the Process Document. In the event of a conflict between the provisions of any charter and the W3C Process, the W3C Process shall take precedence.

There are no new Recommendation Track deliverables in the 2013 revision of this Charter.
