MathJax installation for W3C (original) (raw)

This directory contains an installation of MathJax, a JavaScript library that does its best to render MathML in browsers that do not natively support MathML, but that do support JavaScript.

This script can be used in all documents on the W3C site that need mathematics, including in Technical Reports under /TR. (This is as an exception to the rule that Technical Reports must be self-contained. See Pubrules.)

To use the script, include the following line in the head part of your (X)HTML document:

If you encounter problems with fonts not loading, you can also use the variant that uses SVG for rendering:

The 3 in the middle refers to the version of MathJax. Version 3 is currently (May 2021) the most recent.

Then include standard MathML mark-up in the document, as specified by the HTML5 and MathML Recommendations. For example:

The Quadratic Formula
x = − b ± b 2 − 4 a c 2 a

Which yields:

The Quadratic Formula

x = − b ± b 2 − 4 a c 2 a

See the math homepage for more examples of MathML.

Information about maintenance of this installation itself can be found in the file.
