Big Brother comeback teased during Love Island final ad break (original) (raw)

The Love Island winners hadn't even been announced when ITV was teasing its next big reality series. For as the final ad break got underway during the Love Island final, the 'eye' logo for Big Brother was being flashed up on screen.

ITV has confirmed that the show that started life at the turn of the millennium on Channel 4 is making a comeback years after disappearing from our screens.

The programme - which is heralded as one of the first reality TV series and shot to fame unknowns like Jade Goody, Kate Lawler and Welsh contestants Imogen Thomas and Glyn Wise - will be making a comeback on ITV in 2023. A new cast of carefully selected housemates from all walks of life will take up residence in the house.

While the original series was famously hosted by Davina McCall and later Emma Willis when it switched to Channel 5, it's not yet known who will be taking over hosting duties.

The teaser came as ITV's flagship summer series ended after eight weeks with Ekin-Su and Davide being crowned winners. You can see all the finale action unfold in our Love Island final live blog here.
