This Morning descended into chaos when Gyles Brandreth unexpectedly spat out his drink, leaving co-hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley utterly speechless.

The popular duo were back on our screens as they presented Wednesday's instalment of the beloved ITV daytime programme.

They were joined by regular contributors Gyles Brandreth, 76, and Vanessa Feltz, 62, to chat about the day's hot topics, but it was an unforeseen incident that caught everyone off guard.

In a segment where they decided to sample Dua Lipa's viral spicy Coke concoction, the chaos unfolded. The singer had sparked conversations online after posting a TikTok video showing her unique way of enjoying Diet Coke, which involved mixing in sliced pickles, jalapenos, and a whole lot of pickle juice.

Before trying the dubious beverage, Gyles expressed his concern: "The Jalapenos are the one thing I am worried about because they are chilli and they could be hot."

Ben concurred, adding: "Yes they can be." Gyles questioned: "What is wrong with Diet Coke, why does it need these extra things?"

Ben was the first to brave a taste, and his reaction was telling as he grimaced and warned: "We've put the pickle juice in already so just prepare yourself, Gyles. Prepare your face."

Despite initial reluctance, Gyles took a generous gulp after some coaxing. However, things quickly went south as he ejected the beverage over his unsuspecting colleagues, reports the Mirror.

Vanessa, sat beside him, recoiled in shock exclaiming: "Oh my God." An apologetic Gyles responded with: "I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. It hit the back of the throat all of a sudden."

Speechless, Ben and Cat could only look on as Gyles added: "I'm so sorry for that but it's quite nice." Ben reacted in astonishment, exclaiming: "What!"

Vanessa was quick to retort: "Yeah right. He doesn't like it really." Gyles explained further: "It's a little bit like a Bloody Mary."

Ben chimed in: "Yes with the heat of it." Cat couldn't help but burst into laughter at the unfolding scene. Clearly embarrassed, Gyles insisted: "Honestly I am so sorry and I promise I will do my own cleaning up. I apologize."

Attempting to lighten the mood, Cat teased: "What about my dry cleaning? " To which Gyles added sincerely: "I am sorry."
