ITV This Morning viewers in tears as caller shares they have months to live (original) (raw)

Wednesday's episode of This Morning was charged with raw emotion as celebrity hairdresser Trevor Sorbie discussed his terminal cancer diagnosis on the programme. The revelation that he had only a few weeks to live prompted viewers to reach out, sharing their personal experiences with agony aunt Deidre Sanders.

One particular caller sought advice and support regarding his own health battle. Speaking to presenters Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard, he disclosed: "I've been poorly for a couple of years and I was told on Monday that I've probably got four to six months."

Visibly moved, he confessed he hadn't yet broken the news to his family and friends, asking: "I just wanted to see if, Deidre, you've got any tips or hints on how to tell people."

Upon inquiring about his age, ITV audiences discovered the man was in his 40s, to which Deidre responded: "It's just doubly tragic when someone as young as you are." She advised him to open up to his loved ones promptly, acknowledging the difficulty in finding the right words due to fear of the impending future, which she noted was entirely understandable, reports the Mirror.

Deidre assured the caller she would continue their conversation privately after the show, while other viewers also called in seeking guidance. Another emotional plea came from a woman grappling with her father's now terminal condition. Overcome with emotion, she sought advice on supporting both her father and mother during this challenging time.

She revealed: "I've not long ago had my baby girl, which is their only granddaughter, I'm just really concerned on how to make memories with them."

Deidre pledged additional support away from the show, indicating a genuine concern for the caller. The segment reached an emotional height when Ben had to intervene as the final caller found it too difficult to articulate her distress. He explained that "Sharon recently found out that her friend of over 45 years has the same pancreatic cancer that killed her father."

Viewers were visibly touched by the poignant narratives shared, with one saying, "Good lord, this is a really hard watch today... " and another commenting, "This phone-in is so sad." A different viewer expressed their reaction saying, "Just made a cuppa, sat down and the #ThisMorning phone in is just heartbreaking. Can't bear it, sending love to Nathan and Penny."

Another echoed the sentiment, posting, "I'm overwhelmed listening to this phone in," while yet another viewers message read, "11:28am and my tears start. Bless you, Nathan. Too young. It makes me realise I should appreciate life more and stop moaning about petty stuff! ".
