James Corden gives speech to mark last day of Gavin & Stacey filming in Wales (original) (raw)

James Corden addressed cheering Gavin and Stacey fans as filming the Christmas special nears the end. The cast have already said their farewells to Barry Island. The final day of shooting on location at the seaside resort took place last month.

The characters then moved on to Dinas Powys, where the Essex scenes are filmed. Actor James Corden, who plays Smithy, spoke to fans ahead of the last day of filming on Monday.

As fans cheered and shouted "we love you", Mr Corden said: "Our last day's on Monday, today is our last day in 'Essex'. Everyone in Dinas Powys is so great to the show, and all of you who've come out today thank you very, very much. It means more than you'll ever know. I really, really hope you like the show."

As fans continued to show their support, more cast favourites including Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb (Pam and Mick Shipton), Julia Sutcliffe (Dawn) and Ruth Jones (Nessa) are seen smiling and waving at the crowd.

The final episode of the long-running BBC comedy is set to be broadcast on Christmas Day - after it was left on a cliffhanger with Nessa proposing to Smithy.
