Martin Lewis 'sorry' for swearing during heated GMB debate (original) (raw)

Susanna Reid was quick to prompt Martin Lewis to regain his cool after the presenter became pretty heated on live TV while discussing the Winter Fuel Payment cut with Lisa Nandy. The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport was a guest on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Wednesday, October 9, when Martin Lewis demanded answers about the new measure.

Martin, 52, questioned Lisa Nandy about the government's plan to make the payments means tested. However, his emotions seemed to get the better of him as he swore on live TV, before immediately apologising.

Martin's blunder and evident emotion sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, particularly on Twitter, now X. "Well done Martin that's the most interesting informative interview I've seen on gmb in years she was clueless and unprepared as expected", one user wrote.

Another commended the journalist, writing: "Martin Lewis absolutely schooling Lisa Nandy on #GMB. She doesn't accept that removing the winter fuel allowance from our poorest pensioners was a huge misstep. Oh how we have missed our journalists holding politicians feet to the fire. Well done Martin."

One viewer chimed in: "Martin Lewis just tore Lisa nandy apart", while another remarked: "Lisa nandy getting ripped apart by Martin Lewis." A final TV enthusiast made a plea for Martin to become a more regular feature on the breakfast show, saying: "Can we have Martin Lewis as the male anchor @GMB. Please? The most versatile, informed, funny, interesting of the other two. Thanks."

It follows Susanna Reid welcoming the money-saving guru back to Good Morning Britain this Wednesday, after she co-hosted the show with Ed Balls earlier in the week. Introducing the programme, Susanna expressed: "Martin, it's wonderful to have you back in the studio!" Grinning at his colleague, he told her: "It's wallet Wednesday."

The GMB presenter let viewers know that Martin was on the show for a crucial reason - he was set to assist people with their energy bills. Susanna pointed out that he had only been on the show two weeks prior, but the energy price cap had since increased by 10%. Martin responded: "I wasn't quite sure we'd be doing this but there's a lot that's changed."

Throughout the show, the money-saving expert aided three viewers live on air who had come into the studio.
