Man found dead after falling down stairs (original) (raw)

A 54-year-old man was found dead after falling in his Cwmbran home. Aled Wilding, of Stowe Path, is believed to have been drinking before the fall, an inquest opening at Newport coroner's court heard.

Coroner Rose Farmer said: "On August 26, 2024, a neighbour became concerned for Mr Wilding's safety and contacted Gwent Police. Attending officers forced entry to the home and found Mr Wilding dead at the bottom of the stairs." Paramedics were called to the scene and confirmed Mr Wilding's death.

Following a post-mortem at Cwmbran's Grange hospital a provisional cause of death was given as a fractured skull and blunt trauma from a fall. Alcohol intake was given as a factor. Ms Farmer adjourned the inquest to next March for further enquiries about "matters leading up to the death" to take place.
