Drive-in cinema showing spooky films is coming to a Welsh town this Halloween (original) (raw)

A Halloween fright-fest is coming to Carmarthen for the first time offering movie fans the chance to enjoy a spooky week of films from the comfort of their own cars. The experience is taking place at Nantyci Showground on the outskirts of the town later this month to coincide with the half-term break.

The event is being put on by Street Food Cinema in conjunction with the company’s sister business Street Food Circus, which has already put on successful Christmas movie drive-in festivals over the past two years. Last year audiences were treated to festive classics including Home Along, Elf and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, but this time the screenings will be more spooktacular with Halloween favourites to appeal to families of all ages as well as older horror fans. A classic of the genre - John Carpenter’s Halloween from 1978 - is being shown on Halloween night, while Nightmare on Elm Street will be screened the weekend before.

“For one week over the Halloween period between October 24 and 31, Street Food Cinema are screening films to make you scream at the ultimate drive-in experience. This is our reinvention of an all American tradition, but this is way more than just a movie drive-in. We’re pulling out all the stops to make this a full blown Halloween experience with extra production, lights, smoke, actors and a few pre-show surprises to make your trip something to be remembered. We’ve been producing street food events with our sister business Street Food Circus long enough to know what makes a totally delicious Drive-In and we bring the best in the business. Everything can be ordered and delivered direct to your car at the show."
