These £45 M&S trainers are on trend and rival pricier pairs (original) (raw)

A pair of trainers from Marks & Spencer that are 'so on trend' and have the 'perfect fit' are high in demand with fashion fans - and it's clear to see why. Coming in an array of different colours, the Leather Lace Up Side Detail trainers cost £45 and look pretty stylish - and, when I saw them for myself strolling through M&S, I did a double take as they look remarkably similar in style to New Balance's 327 - but cost £65 less.

While of course, there are a handful of differences - these don't have the classic 'N' embellishment on the side, the lacing and tongue design are different with M&S' having a softer, rounded finish on the side panels and the colours are brighter - they're a great budget alternative to the more expensive £110 327s.

Coming in sizes three to 8, the shoes are available in a lovely beige shade, black with cream details, green with a yellow heel trim, and this season's favourite trend, burgundy. All of which have a textured base sole (similar to New Balance's) that'll give good grip in rainy whether.

They're sturdy and supportive - as well as pretty - and have been crafted with Insolia Flex technology which is said to help improve foot placement to ensure you're getting the most comfort out of your shoe. It's also got anti-bacterial padding which is always a bonus to keep your new shoes fresh.

The trainer is made from a combination of leather and textile and shoppers love them so much they have bought them in multiple pairs in different colours. One said: "Really great trainers, very comfortable and stylish. I now have in 2 colours. They go with everything!"

Another hailed their comfort level and shared: "Like walking on clouds. Such comfort and support, whilst being very stylish."

Some shoppers have even been ditching their trusty Skechers for these trainers, saying: "I love these trainers! I normally buy Skechers as they are so comfortable but these trainers are just as comfortable and less the price!"

Another, for whom this was their fourth pair of trainers, raved: "This is my fourth pair of trainers from M&S. I like the colours of the trainers available and the flash at the side gives them extra style. I have a wide foot and these are very comfortable to wear in my normal size of 41/2. The option of half sizes is good too. The quality of the trainers is excellent, long lasting. I bought my trainers to wear with black jeans also from M&S."

That being said, some took issue with the sizing with a number of shoppers disappointed that they were 'too small', while others found them 'too big'.

Another fan of the brand warned of the material, stating: "They are comfortable and fit well, but I take issue with the description of 'leather trainer' they are basically canvas with suede inserts, so no good for wet weather." Although there is a way around that as, with our weather being rainy and positively temperamental, there are solutions to keeping suede shoes clean and water-repellent - we suggest weather-proofing the suede on the toes and ankle with something like this suede water-repellent spray, Scotchgard (£10.99, Amazon).

If you're wanting more of a leather finish, however, these Breaknet Sleek Adidas trainers come in a variety of colours and match M&S' £45 pricetag. Alternatively, these Skechers Street Arch Fit Arcade On My Way trainers are £69 from John Lewis and are made with polyurethane.
