Systems - The Human Body (original) (raw)
There are 11 major organ systems inside the human body. These systems are the integumentary (skin), skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, reproductive, and urinary.
The circulatory system is responsible for carrying your blood away from and back to the heart. It is made up of blood vessels, arteries, and veins that carry blood around your body. The circulatory system carries oxygen, nutrients and hormones to cells. It also removes waste products like carbon dioxide.
The Immune System helps you fight off sickness. The Immune System is made up of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to protect the body from disease or illness.
The digestive system allows your body to get the nutrients and energy it needs from the food you eat. Your digestive system starts working even before you begin eating. After you eat it will work on the food for hours, days or more depending on what you have eaten turning it into liquids. You can help your digestive system by drinking water and eating a healthy diet.
