Covid- 19 is the short name for coronavirus disease 2019. It is a new virus and doctors and scientists are still learning about it. Recently a lot of people have become sick because of this new virus. You can practice healthy habits at home and at school to help you protect yourself and your family against the spread of this disease. Wearing a mask, socially distancing yourself at least 6 feet away from other people, washing your hands and avoiding crowds are all ways to help you avoid this disease.

To help stop the spread of a virus wash your hands often. There are not very many good things about viruses. Viruses usually attack your body and make you sick!
Germs are tiny organisms that cause diseases in plants or animals. Germs are microbes or microorganisms that are so small they can only be seen through a microscope. There are many types of germs including bacteria, viruses, protozoans, and fungi. Germs are more like little bugs then dirt because they are microorganisms or tiny living things. Many medicines stop disease by killing germs. Diseases caused by bacterial germs are called bacterial diseases and those caused by virus germs are called viral diseases. We are all exposed to germs everyday, but it helps our body build stronger immune systems to fight off diseases in the future.

Bacteria are single celled microorganisms that live in the air and even in our bodies. There are 10,000 known species of bacteria. There are three types of bacteria. Cocci bacteria are round. Bacilli bacteria are straight in shape, and spiral bacteria look like corkscrew pasta.
Some bacteria are very dangerous. The bubonic plague spread throughout Europe and killed millions of people, all caused by bacteria. But not all bacteria are bad in fact you couldn't survive without some bacteria. Probiotics are bacteria that live in your stomach and help you digest food. Good bacteria is also known as beneficial bacteria and can enhance your health. An adult will have 3 pounds of active bacteria in their body at any one time.
