TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE DAY
Pageant Day is one of the biggest days in South Australia.
Use public transport to avoid the traffic.
Arrive early to get the best spot.
Arrange a meeting spot and a time to meet in case you and your group are separated during the day.
Bring some colourful chalk to decorate the Pageant route while you wait for the starting whistle.
Bring plenty of snacks.
Bring plenty of cool drinking water. Freeze a water bottle the night before for an icy treat, and visit one of the SA Water hydration stations for top-ups.
Bring blankets, rugs, low folding chairs and cushions to sit on - leave your ladders, scaffolding and pop-up shelters at home.
If you set up a chair, leave enough room for children to sit in front of you.
If it rains, avoid using an umbrella while the Pageant is passing. Bring a poncho instead.
Introduce your child to the nearest stationary police officer so they know who to go to if they become lost.
Get a lost child / vulnerable person wristband. All Police officers will have wristbands for children that you can write your phone number on. This way, police and emergency services can make contact and reunite you with your child if they become lost.
The wristbands will also be available at cross-over points along the route.
***Bring a permanent marker to write your information on the wristband.
Take a photo of your child on your phone—this way, a detailed description can be given to police and emergency services if they become lost.
In the unfortunate event that you should lose a child and are not promptly reunited, contact the nearest police officer or go to the police stations at 55 Hindley Street or 176 Grenfell Street.
