Ingmar Bergman is Notable.

Ingmar Bergman was a Swedish director, writer, and producer who worked in film, television, theatre and radio.

He was born at the maternity hospital in Uppsala 14 July 1918 and named Ernst Ingmar by his parents, pastor Erik Bergman and his wife Karin, born Åkerblom.[1] The family lived at Forsbacka in Valbo parish, where his father was Adjunctus. However, they moved to Stockholm when Ingmar was less than a month old. He grew up in Stockholm.[2][3]

Ingmar Bergman married Else Marie Fisher 25 March 1943. They had a daughter in December. Ingmar was employed as manager of Helsingborgs stadsteater and the family is registered as living in Helsingborg from November 1944; Else and the child moving back to Stockholm Kungsholm in September 1945.[4] However Else Fisher and the child were only formally registered in Helsingborg. According to Bergman in his autobiography, they were both being treated for tuberculosis, Else in a private sanatorium and the daughter in a children's hospital in Stockholm.[5]

In the absence of his wife, Ingemar Bergman started an affair with the choreographer Ellen Lundström. According to the parish record for Helsingborg, Ellen Anna Strömholm, born Lundström had married the photographer Christer Strömholm 9 September 1944. However, she came to Helsingborg on her own in October 1944 to work at the theatre.[6] Ellen was divorced from Strömholm 27 November 1945 and took back her previous name, Lundström. She moved in with Ingmar Bergman, with whom she had had a daughter in September 1945.[7] Bergman was still married to Else Fisher at the time.

Ingmar Bergman and Else Fisher were divorced 25 February 1947.[8] In the Swedish census for 1950 we find Ingmar and Ellen Bergman together, married since 22 July 1947, living in Göteborg with their four children.[9]

In 1949 Ingmar Bergman met the journalist Gun Grut and was mutually attracted. They "eloped" to Paris in September 1949 and spent three months there together, then came back to Sweden, confronting a couple of very painful divorces.[10] Gun was divorced from Hugo Grut 15 November 1950.[11] Ingmar was divorced from Ellen Bergman 5 September 1952.[12]

Gun and Ingmar Bergman married after Ingmar's divorce from Ellen in 1952. They were divorced 23 July 1959.[13]

Ingmar Bergman married pianist Käbi Laretei 1 September 1959. At the time of the census 1960 they lived in Djursholm.[14]The marriage lasted until 2 May 1969.[15]

Ingmar Bergman's last marriage was to Ingrid von Rosen, born Karlebo. They married 11 November 1971 and the marriage lasted until her death in 1995.[16]
