Coachella recap: Madonna joins Sabrina Carpenter in surprise appearance, Justin Bieber serenades Billie Eilish (original) (raw)
The second weekend of Coachella wrapped on Sunday and we’re still taking it all in.
On Friday, Sabrina Carpenter brought out Madonna in a surprise appearance that included the pair performing a duet of “Vogue.”
“Twenty years ago today, I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent, and it was the first time I performed Confessions on the Dance Floor Part One in America,” Madonna told festivalgoers. “That was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is for me to be back 20 years later in the same boots, the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, the same Gucci jacket. So, it’s like a full circle moment, very meaningful for me.”
On Saturday, Justin Bieber turned the main stage into a guest-star parade.
The biggest moment: Billie Eilish wandered out during "One Less Lonely Girl," stumbled up the steps, curled onto a stool and got a hug from behind while Bieber serenaded her. The two burst out laughing mid-song before Eilish bolted back into the crowd. They first met at Coachella in 2019, when Eilish was 17 and a Bieber superfan.
She wasn't the only surprise. SZA joined for "Snooze." Big Sean came out for "As Long as You Love Me" and "No Pressure." Sexyy Red hit "Sweet Spot." Dijon sang "Devotion."
Earlier Saturday, Addison Rae brought out Olivia Rodrigo to debut "Drop Dead." And on Sunday, Karol G closed the Coachella stage as the festival's first Latina headliner.
