U.S. Defense Secretary Praises Houthis’ Restraint, Credits American Military Deterrence

Washington -- U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has commended the Houthis for refraining from joining the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East, attributing their restraint to the deterrent power of American military forces.

Speaking at a press briefing on regional security, Hegseth emphasized that the presence and readiness of U.S. forces in the region have played a decisive role in discouraging new actors from escalating the crisis.

“The Houthis’ decision to remain outside the current war is not accidental,” Hegseth said. “It reflects the strength and credibility of U.S. military capabilities, which have made potential adversaries think twice before engaging.”

The remarks come amid heightened tensions across the Middle East, where Washington has sought to prevent the conflict from widening.
