The development of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for vocational trainers in ... more The development of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs for vocational trainers in Delhi has been hampered by a lack of relevant research on their CPD practices and learning needs. This study therefore investigated the learning needs of vocational trainers in Delhi based on the professional competencies vocational teachers identify as essential for their work and their self-perception of competence. Using a concurrent mixed method approach data was collected from 200 questionnaire respondents and twenty interview participants of vocational trainers of Delhi state government schools where vocational education is being carried out under the National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) project. Despite NSQF trainers perceiving themselves as highly competent, they were found to express a relatively high need for CPD. The need was most strongly expressed by trainers who has received Induction Training, which suggested it has a positive influence in sensitising trainers on the need for CPD, new trainers were however have a lower perception of competence. Mentorship for new trainers is thus recommended. An unexpected finding was that while NSQF Trainers in Delhi identify good teaching skills as an essential competency for vocational trainers, they assume mastery of content translate to good teaching skills. It is thus recommended that the curriculum for NSQF trainers be reviewed to help teachers appreciate, identify and develop trade-specific training skills.

Yet many people experience uneasiness and fear when dealing with numerical data, often regarded as math anxiety but Math anxiety is not limited to a minority of individuals nor to one country. International comparisons of high school students show that some students in every country are anxious about math. A review of various research papers is presented in this article for exploring the factors of math anxiety among students and how math anxiety has affected the achievement among students in the subject of mathematics.
