General observations: Three male goldeneyes are courting a female close to the shore of a sea-bay. An additional male is flying by. Mostly clear skies. Temperature: 1°C/33.8°F. Southeasterly wind, light breeze.

• Canada Goose, Branta canadensis, call, awr-lüt, at 0:05.9 (vaguely)
• Black-headed Gull, Chroicocephalus ridibundus, call, krreearr, at 0:09.8
