Internet of Things based applications for smart homes, wearable health devices, and smart cities ... more Internet of Things based applications for smart homes, wearable health devices, and smart cities are in the evolutionary stage in India. Adoption of Internet of Things is still limited to a few application areas. In developing countries, the usefulness of IOT's adoption is recognized as a key factor for economic and social development of a country by both academicians and practitioners as well. Currently, there are still very few studies that explore the adoption of Internet of Things from a multiple theory perspective, namely, The Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA), The Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and The Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This research aims to satisfy a clear gap in the main field of research by proposing a Structured Equation Model (SEM) approach to test three competing models in the context of Internet of Things in India. With respect to previous literature, this research sets the stage for extensive research in a broad domain of application areas for the Internet of Things, like healthcare, elderly well-being and support, smart cities and smart supply chains etc.

In this regard, there arise interesting questions that warrant investigations like, does user perception of SNSs get affected due to feature evolution of the SNSs? What features of the SNSs really matter to the users? Are features of SNSs important reasons for usage of these sites? In order to investigate these questions, the authors conducted an analytical study of SNSs usage in India. The study was undertaken with three stage qualitative process of detailed literature review, expert opinion elicitation followed by in-depth focus group discussions with 12 select panel of SNSs users. The study corroborates existing literature on SNS usage context in terms of usage purpose, usage impact due to user profile and age-group, user presence on different SNS platforms, and also shows some new findings on user perceptions on feature evolutions.

It provides for the shift of spend from capital expenditure in IT budgets to a more flexible and manageable operating expenditure for the CIOs. However, as an emergent technology, there are initial adoption level concerns that are associated with Cloud Computing in most of the companies. Infrastructure as a Service or (IaaS) adoptions have not been high especially in the large companies which continue to opt for traditional IT Infrastructure Outsourcing. This paper compares Cloud Computing (Infrastructure as a Service - IaaS) adoption, outlined through two cases of Cloud (IaaS), with traditional IT Infrastructure Outsourcing outlined through four cases studies of traditional IT Outsourcing.

Shows how the process was simplified and reformed.FindingsReveals that, on the basis of Bharati Computers Limited recruiting around 1,000 new people a year, the company could make an annual saving of around US$360,000.Practical implicationsReveals how application of six sigma can substantially improve the performance of a process.Originality/valueHighlights the scope for reducing hidden costs by stripping out activities that do not add value.
