Christmas Card Exchange (original) (raw)
To make things easier for the mods (and mostly for advertising purposes) we have decided to move sign ups over to tumblr.
To sign up for the Star Trek Slash Exchange click here.
To sign up for the Sherlock Slash Exchange click here.
To sign up for the Teen Wolf Sterek Exchange click here.
1. Do I have to send cards to everyone?
We usually do not require this we only require that you send cards to 3-6 people. The only exception to this is when registration for the exchange is so low that the entire list is under 10 participants total and we always ask if everyone on the list is capable of handing sending out that many cards (this happens very rarely and we don’t anticipate this being a problem this year).
2. Can I send to the entire list of participants?
Of course! Just ask.
3. Who has access to my address?
The two mods do of course and the people who will be asked to send cards to you. That is all your address will NEVER be publicly displayed.
4. When is the deadline to join?
The deadline this year is November 30th and the lists will go out no later than December 2nd depending on how many participants we get.
5. What is WS and NSFW?
Non-Work safe: this is what you put if you would like dirty steamy blatant slash (this will get you FIRED if you were to have it on your computer screen at work)
Work Safe: this is what you put if you want no dirty steamy slash (things that won't get you in trouble were you to have it up on your computer screen at work) things that suggest slash but aren't quite blatant.
6. What if I have a question that doesn’t fit in an ask?
Feel free to fanmail us questions or even submit things and we are always available via email as well as at out tumblrs (echowolves.tumblr.com and aconitebite.tumblr.com )
For the Sterek exchange we are at: sterekholidayexchange@gmail.com
For Star Trek we are at: startrekholiday@gmail.com
For Sherlock we are at: sherlockholiday@gmail.com
7. Do I have to write different fics for each of my recipients?
No, however we do ask that you don’t use the same fic/art /etc for upcoming years.
8. Am I allowed to contact my recipient?
Yes, we include the emails in case we have any issues or questions for your recipient.
9. What should my card look like?
The best way to answer this is with examples from previous years and what I personally have done in the past so forgive the long answer.
Each person does different things but I've known some of our participants to go all out for these cards, one year for my Sherlock exchange I received a card that was hand made to look like the door of 221 B baker street and another person send me a 5 page story with a christmas card and a christmas pencil just to give you an idea of the range of different things people do.
But don't let that intimidate you or anything every year I write a little drabble usually a page or so and put it into a store bought card with a personal short hand written note that I sign. It's really up to you what you want to do I just try to show my appreciation for the work I know the others are putting into their cards as much as possible by sending them something good that you put time and effort into.
10. What if I have a religious preference?
Feel free to list that on your application but know that the mods have no control really of what goes out but we do ask that participants take this into account when buying their cards. For example, my cards always say “happy holidays” or “season’s greetings” or something similar.
As you have probably gathered by now this is a Christmas card exchange.
Description:
Now on to the kind of Christmas cards you want to send, this is really up to you as the sender. This can be anything from artfully drawing and hand making your card with a cover or Spock and Kirk having sweaty, flexible, manporn sex or put a little sweet hidden drabble on the inside of an inconspicuous Santa card and everything in between. The art doesn't have to be DaVinci and the writing doesn't have to be Shakespeare, we welcome stick figures and little drabbles! If you want to write a dirty limerick, those are awesome too!
Now you are asking how do we know who will want what and how will you know what you should send, right? We’ll even if you’re not I’m telling you anyway!
The Application:
Name: (this can be your sign in name or your real name or whatever name you want your name to be sent to)
Email: (this is to receive your send list)
Address: (this will be seen by NO ONE but the mods and the small sender list...all via private email. It will NEVER be public.)
Pairing: (Stick your OTP here, but be warned, if it is kind of obscure, then there might not be someone comfortable writing it. We do out best though!)
Type of Card: (this is where you list the type of card you would like to receive; Work Safe or Non-Work Safe)
List to Send: (this is where you state the kind of card you’d like to give out; Work Safe or Non-Work Safe)
Leave this in a message below (all messages are screened and are only viewable by the maintainers).
Explanation of the Application:
In case you are unfamiliar with some of the terminology used, though most of you probably know it, here it is again:
Non-Work safe: this is what you put if you would like dirty steamy blatant slash (this will get you FIRED if you were to have it on your computer screen at work)
Work Safe: this is what you put if you want no dirty steamy slash (things that won't get you in trouble were you to have it up on your computer screen at work) things that suggest slash but aren't quite blatant

If you just want to send or receive general Christmas cards with season’s greetings from someone who likes the same pairing as you do is entirely up to you. Play on your own skills. If you are great at baking send a card with your favorite or best recipe. Or if you are really skilled at drawing stick figure porn we welcome it all!
