[**mood** |mischievous]Jubilation Lee was bored.Boredom was not a sensation one generally felt while living at the Xavier Institute. Trying to stay alive was usually exciting enough, but since the school year had started recently and Professor Xavier wanted them to settle back into the swing of things before resuming an intense training program, more focus had been placed on surviving geometry instead of surviving Wolverine as of late. Now it was a Saturday night, and with no homework and no Danger Room session to cause several thousand dollars worth of damage in (she often wondered just how Xavier funded this place), she had absolutely no idea what to do.It was times like these, when she had nothing else on her mind, that Jubilation felt the most homesick. There was always something to do on a Saturday night in Beverly Hills: go to the movies, roller skating, hang out with friends, all sorts of things. Here, though, boredom wasn't just boring - it was lonely. The others were all right - well, they were more than all right - but she still hadn't gotten to know them very well. What did they do for fun?Just then, she had a thought. What does ANY teenager do for fun?Beaming, she left her room and took off running down the hall.

[**mood** |hungry]After school, Kurt went to the burger place for an after school snack. Things were going smoothly. He had had no problems with his inducer yet. He just had to make sure he didn't come in physical contact with anyone. Kurt ordered the usual and sat down. He looked up to find a familiar face entering the restaurant."Ugh. Not him." Kurt said under his breath.

Duncan's party | [Sep. 4th, 2004|09:07 pm]'X-Men: Evolution' RPG |

[mood** |partying] [music** | the party mix]Duncan Matthews smiled proudly as he gazed around at the large crowd that had gathered in his stylish, ultramodern home for the last party of the summer. The turnout had been as good as he'd expected - better, in fact - and with no neighbors nearby and his parents in Albany for the long weekend, they could play the music as loud as they wanted and party until dawn, or at least until the pizza and soda ran out, and that promised to be no sooner than midnight. The entire football team was there, and so were the volleyball and soccer teams, several people he knew from around school, and even a few people who'd graduated from Bayville High in June and hadn't left for college yet. Jean was there too, of course - there was no way she'd miss this - and so were her friends from Xavier's. Duncan didn't really like them, but they weren't causing any problems, and as long as that kept up, he could deal with them. They were Jean's friends, her best friends, but it was his house, and if they caused trouble, he had every right to make them leave. The music Jean helped him pick out was playing loudly, and all around, people were dancing, eating, playing ping pong, and just enjoying their last few hours of freedom. Duncan waved to several of them as he passed through the living area, but the one he was really looking for was Jean. He hoped she wasn't still stressing out about the upcoming school year. Honestly, that girl needed to learn how to relax and have fun. |

Back-to-School Misery | [Sep. 1st, 2004|01:49 pm]'X-Men: Evolution' RPG |

[mood** |morose] [music** | A baseball shattering the window. Xavier's gonna be peeved.]School was starting again. A lot of the Institute kids were cheerful and optimistic about the new school year. Rogue was certainly not. Aside from the fact that Xavier's Institute was the only place where she could be herself without being thought of as a "freak", Rogue hated it for it's constant optimism and PSA-worthy morality. If someone told her one more time about the importance of education for the young mind she thought she was going to gag.School meant nothing to Rogue but shame and isolation. Another year of pretending to be something she was not. Another year of having a "skin condition" that cast her out of any social situations. It all felt so forced.Whatever happened to summer vacation? Rogue was furious that Remy and Piotr had never called her and Kitty back like they had promised. She hated being made to look like a fool, and she had unintentionally made it so ridiculously obvious that she was waiting every day for their call. They were older anyway, so why would they want to hang around a bunch of high school aged girls? Rogue knew that although her feelings for Remy were truly genuine, a part of her wanted a new love interests to make her not think about Scott. She didn't know why she even liked him so much in the first place. He wasn't particularly her type, anyhow. Maybe it was just the fact that he was so much like her...a phony "eye condition", no family, miles away from home...and he was the first guy her age who was actually nice to her when she arrived in Bayville. Well, if you don't count the couple of weeks that she was a part of the Brotherhood. But hopefully, that was all behind her. But, of course, Scott just had to be interested in Jean. She tried to deny it every day (both her crush and Scott's affection for Jean), but it was so blatantly obvious. Luckily for Rogue, she had too much pride to actually go after a guy directly. He'd have to come to her. And that would surely save her the humilation of being turned down. But still, Scott's crush for Jean just ate away at Rogue's heart. Stupid old Jean Grey. What was so great about Jean, anyhow? She was just another tall, popular, pretty, goody-good soccer player dating a dumb-yet-equally-popular jock. Where's the fun in that?As most of the other kids were outside enjoying their last few days of summer playing baseball or frisbee or whatnot, Rogue sat alone at the kitchen counter, sipping a bottle of soda (her favorite place to hang out at the Institute, that is, until the other kids came in). Suddenly, a very familiar face walked in...(OOC: Enter dramatic music...) |

[**mood** |nervous]A fresh wave of anxiety washed over Jubilation Lee as the cab pulled to a stop in front of a large, handsome mansion. She didn't quite understand why she felt so afraid. She had traveled alone before, she had been to boarding schools before, and her own home back in Beverly Hills was no less impressive than this place, but somehow, the combination of those three things wasn't as easy to face as they were individually. And she had never traveled so far without her parents. She understood why they couldn't come - the whole thing with Xavier had been extremely short-notice - but just the same, she wished they were here. She hated feeling so alone. The cab driver retrieved her two suitcases from the trunk, then asked if she was getting out. She nodded meekly and climbed out of the vehicle. After paying the driver, she took her suitcases and walked up to the front door. Jubilation found herself shivering as she set down the suitcases in order to ring the doorbell. Stupid New York, she thought, and hugged her thin yellow jacket tighter around her body. It wasn't cold for evening by New York standards, but it was still colder than the summer she left behind in California. She double-checked the address on the letter Xavier sent her, which began this whole fiasco six days ago. This was the place, all right. She took a deep breath, rang the doorbell, and waited for an answer.

_It's awfully quiet around here lately..._That was the thought going through Charles Xavier's mind as the paralyzed professor guided his wheelchair through the corridors of the mansion. Usually, the students were causing all sorts of merry mayhem, but not today. Perhaps it was because the summer was nearing its end. School would be starting again in a few short weeks, and with it, pressure. So much was expected of them... from their teachers, from their friends, from him. And then there was the fear of negative reactions if they were exposed as mutants. What if...No, Xavier told himself. _I am not going to play that 'what if' game._He pushed the negative thoughts out of his head and continued on down the long hallway toward the library though. Then his ears caught the sound of raised voices, which grew louder as he drew closer to the library. Puzzled, the professor pulled his wheelchair up to the door, pushed it open, and saw...

[mood |determined]Pietro was at the high school basketball court shooting hoops. He missed school for only one reason. It was competition. There was no one to compete against now. Pietro eyed the cheerleaders. Though school didn't start for a couple of weeks, the cheerleaders had summer practice. Trying to show off for them he did Harlem Globe Trotter like tricks. The girls just raised their eyebrows and laughed. He heard is father's voice in his head. His father had always told him to concentrate on his responsibilities before girls. The X-Men would never understand that mutants and humans can never live peacefully together and that their mutant powers made them superior. It was up to The Brotherhood to teach the X-Men a lesson. All Pietro needed was a plan. He couldn't do this alone.

[**mood** |anxious]Kurt decided not to waste his last month of summer. He had to have some fun. There was a nearby water park that was just calling to him. The 100 degree heat just made the water park impossible to pass up. Maybe some of the other students would like to go with him. Something like that would be no fun for him to go to alone. Kurt entered the rec room to look for others.

Grass.Piotr Rasputin had almost forgotten what the touch of grass felt like. Everything was cold, metallic, and barren on the asteroid. But grass... grass was such a simple, yet perfect embodiment of everything that was good in the world. It could grow anywhere it could take root, an example of life's desire to endure. It was neither soft nor stiff, but just the right texture to tickle the skin and provide the kind of joy that only came from running barefoot through grass. And it was green, the color of life.Piotr liked grass. He was glad he and Remy had come to the park. The park was everything the asteroid was not, including warm. A group of teenagers about his age were throwing a Frisbee back and forth, looking like they were having a wonderful time. I have almost forgotten summer, too, he thought with a smile as he wiped a bead of sweat off his brow. He saw a lemonade stand when they came into the park. Perhaps he could talk Remy into a nice tall glass of-WHACK!The Frisbee had just made contact with his forehead.

The training room on the second level was virtually empty, save for a few crates and two young men. This room was rarely used; it was half the size of the main training room and nowhere near in as good of condition. But it was all right. It would serve its purpose well enough. The taller of the two young men, even taller than normal because of the metal coating on his body, took a few heavy steps forward, then drove his right fist into one of the crates. The crate was old and rotten, and when it shattered under the impact, it threw up enough dust and debris to conceal Colossus from the eyes of his companion. When the dust settled, the metal coating on Piotr Rasputin's body had vanished, and several pieces of wood were sticking out of his hand. Blood trickled from the wounds down to his fingertips and dripped onto the floor. His deep, normally calm voice carried more than a hint of frustration as he spoke to his companion. "I do not understand, Remy."
