X-Men Unlimited's Journal (original) (raw)
(OOC: This post was a tad too big for the comment space, so I think that's a hint it's big enough to give it it's own post ^^;))
Jubilee's bright look faded when he asked, but it was what he expected. She often used her powers to do no damage; to temporarily blind her target so she could make an escape, that was the main use of them when she was a thief at the mall, or to throw the target off guard long enough that Wolverine could jump in and do all of the fighting. It was one of the reasons they worked so well together, their powers combind made taking the enemy down easy. But she knew her powers could be used for much more, hell, she had even blown up an entire building before, and she recently had been feeling like she could of done more then that...
"I don't know, Professor...I'm trying to learn about my physical abilities more then my mutant ones. Y'know." She tried to make it sound more like she was bragging about those, her skills in the Martial Arts which she began to learn before her days with Logan, though he taught her where she had left off now. Coupled with her excellent gymnastic abilities, she could do a lot more damage with her non mutant abilities then she'd allow herself to do with her mutant ones. A few of her powers hadn't even been uncovered yet, one being a weak telepathy that only Xavier knew of because he could sense it. Her power there was rooted in her control for when her "fireworks" went off with her mind, her ability to handle them (what shape they were, how big they were, what colour they were, how far they went, when they exploded...) was as good as one can control their arm or their leg...unless emotions got in the way, specifically, anger. Then her accuracy was off, but her power.....
She had more control over her own powers then most all of the other mutants, even ones who had been taught years more then her. She had always accepted her ..."special abilities" from the first day she used them (it had been a way to make money by entertaining people with a light show at the mall), but she was afraid when it came to seriously hurting other people with them, partially rooted in the happenings of her past. She could feel as he wordlessly conveyed that was not what he was looking for. Though the topic made her uneasy, she kept a strong expression, and her voice only carried an uncaring tone if she didn't want to speak of it, barely ever hurt. She'd eventually have to tell someone...
"Plain and simple, right? I can feel them growing. Nothing big though, I can deal. I'm sure you hear that a lot, and you really shouldn't worry about me. I don't care about using them! I do just as good as everyone else in the Danger Room with the skills I have...!" A few nights ago she awoken to bursts of energy going off everywhere, so scared and suprised she couldn't stop them right away, causing the loud noises to go down the hallway, and alerting Kitty (who slept in the room beside hers). By the time she had arrived though, they were gone...and Jubilee had ceased to explain what had happened with a rather inconsiderate brush off for the other student who was also a friend of hers. The fact they weren't the normal "paff"'s was what scared her, usually they'd do nothing more then dissapear. But there was a burnt spot on her wall to proove otherwise, now covered by her dresser. She wondered if the Proffessor had learned anything of it.
She looked off to the side, not wanting to look the Professor in the eye, having no trust in herself to not just spill everything. "Wolvie teachs me about how to concentrate, about defensive moves...and if he teachs me any more then that, it isn't for my mutant powers." Wolverine knew how she felt about them, and had no desire to teach her to use that power of hers for any more then what she wished to do with it, perhaps felt it wasn't his place; he didn't want to hurt her. If there was any characteristic he didn't want to influence her with, it was the way he used his own powers. "Besides, what does it matter! I can keep up with all of the X-Men, so it shouldn't!" Xavier couldn't really mind the sudden rudeness, she had picked up more then a few things from the Canadian. She was a kind girl, you just had to get use to her, and know what subjects to avoid. She always got over-defensive when he had asked, because she feared opening up to him the most; she didn't have the most trust in him that he wouldn't use his own power on her, even after he had assured her many times before he wouldn't.
She had told him everything but what he had asked.
