As it is known universities are public institutions providing educational and training services. ... more As it is known universities are public institutions providing educational and training services. They are also engaged with research activities. The services provided by these institutions concerns very closely both the public opinion and the public officials from numerous aspects. Thus, the resources allocated to the activities of these institutions must be evaluated to what extent it is used efficiently. In addition, the development of the institutions over time is also noteworthy. In this context, a DEA-based approach known as MPI (Malmquist Productivity Index) is used to evaluate the efficiency of state universities and to reveal the technological change and "catching-up" over time if there exists. MPI is a method of measuring the influence of time shift. It is designed to calculate the efficient frontier shift in a certain period of time. The efficiency shifts between two periods of time give the institutions the opportunity to compare and evaluate their relative competitive positions. This study comprises two academic periods, namely, 2000/01 and 2009/10 in order to investigate the productivity change on a sample from the state universities of Turkey.

It has been concluded that the tendency of career planning of individuals with increased compliance, and individuals with increased tendency to behave conscientiously also increased.

ÖZET İyi oluş ve yaşam kalitesi açısından her ilin kendine özgü özellikleri bulunmaktadır. Bu özg... more ÖZET İyi oluş ve yaşam kalitesi açısından her ilin kendine özgü özellikleri bulunmaktadır. Bu özgün özelliklere göre illeri sınıflandırmak mümkündür. Bu çalışma, Türkiye İstatistik Kurumu'nun 2015 yılı için yayınladığı yaşam endeksi gösterge değerlerine dayanarak illeri kendi içinde birbirine benzer diğer gruplardan mümkün olduğu ölçüde ayrık gruplara ayırmaya çalışmaktadır. İllerin bu benzerlik ve ayrışmasında 81 ilin konut, çalışma hayatı, gelir ve servet, sağlık, eğitim, çevre, güvenlik, sivil katılım, altyapı hizmetlerine erişim ve sosyal yaşam göstergeleri temel alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda illerin benzer özelliklerine göre sınıflandırılmasında ve özet bilgi elde edilmesinde kümeleme analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Problemin yapısı açısından önceden küme sayısını belirlemek mümkün olmadığından farklı sayıda küme sayısı ile sınıflandırmalar gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada en uygun küme sayısını belirlemek için farklı sayıda deneme (k=3, k=4, k=5) yapılmıştır. İlleri iyi oluş ve yaşam kalitesi açısından dört ya da üç kümeye ayırmanın anlamlı olacağı sonucu ortaya çıkmaktadır.

During recent years evaluating and selecting appropriate middlemen for the firm has become a strategic issue in marketing. How to select middlemen is a typical multi criteria decision-making problem. To deal with this type of complex and unstructured problems various qualitative and quantitative factors must be taken into consideration. To evaluate these factors a multi criteria decision-making approach will be proposed and shown with an example to highlight the procedure of the proposed method.

In this study, first of all, the factors determining service quality were identified from point of views of patients or those of their relatives by using the SERVQUAL model via a field study. The result of this research; reveals nine essential factors; appearance of service personnel, doctors attitude towards patients, sufficient exploratory information on the status of patients, warm and comfortable environment, staffs’ experience level, feeling of trust to services, sufficiency of medical equipment, communication skills, advice on rational medicine usage. After identifying the main factors affecting service quality, the importance level of each of the identified factors as well as the causal relationships among them are determined by applying the DEMATEL (Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory) method, which is one of the multi-criteria decision making methods, to the hospital administrators that are regarded as experts within the field of health. According to the results of the study, patients’ feeling a sense of security from the medical services provided to them emerged as the most important factor in determining service quality, whereas dress and tidy appearance of service personnel appears to be the least significant factor.

The presence of congestion is an economic state where inputs are overly invested.
