All attempts to resolve the substituted β-tetralols by diasteromeric derivatization have failed. The absolute configuration of the products was established by literature precedence.

A new method is presented for counting the number of distinguishable arrangements available to a ... more A new method is presented for counting the number of distinguishable arrangements available to a mixture of molecules in a lattice model. Chain molecules are used and these are allowed to undergo molecular clustering and chemical dissociation. The resulting equation for the configurational degeneracy is shown to reduce to the equations of Flory and Guggenheim in the appropriate limits. The
