Within the framework of the study, based on the need for a method that enables the understanding and analysis of urban space, 7 research criteria were created that include the holistic data of the city. These criteria aim to obtain holistic data by combining the plan level and urban form data of the urban space, the three-dimensional perceived (experienced) data of the space, the relationship of the historical process with economic, political, social, and spatial dynamics, and mapping techniques. This method, called the "holistic view of urban space," allows data to be brought together, mapped, and multiple readings and inferences to be made while experiencing and researching urban space. In the study, carried out with the qualitative research method, theoretical information is brought together with the thematic analysis method and associated on the matrix. By associating the concepts on the matrix, the "holistic view of urban space" method is obtained. The data obtained after the field examination are analyzed with 7 examination criteria, and a mapping study is carried out. The analysis criteria make it possible to collect data at eye level and at plan level and to interpret them by associating them in the analysis of the urban space. The criteria allow deepening the information by elaborating the collected data, as well as providing holistic information from a higher scale through induction.

(Özbulut, 1999). Through the implementation of Law No. 4306, which was passed on August 18, 1997 in the Official Gazette, an important reform was carried out by increasing the duration of the compulsory education in Turkey from 5 to 8 years. The transition to the new system emphasized the lack of school buildings, which has become problematic due to rapid population growth and the increasing urbanization rate.An intense effort was put into meeting the needs of this system, and, due to the difficulty of producing different projects for each school, time constraints, staff shortage and funding problems, the production of typical project applications which had been discussed for years came more intensely to the fore. The implementation of school building projects through the initiatives of the Ministry of Education and...

The most common means of identifying creativity has been through its products. The arts including sculpture, painting, and the humanities including writing, law are not only areas in which human creativity has been exhibited. Science and engineering fields are also full of discoveries and products that meet our tests of creativity. Today, there is a need for measuring creativity in different fields of disciplines and professions such as personnel selection, education and fine arts. Architectural education is one of them because, it can be defined as a design study which get it's origins from creativity. While the encouragement and rewarding of creativity is very important in all fields, it is especially important in the field of architectural education. The objective of this paper is to investigate creative thinking standards of architectural design students and to test the effectiveness of architectural design education on the improvement of general creative thinking abilities. In order to accomplish this, two sample groups are formed from different levels of education. The main method used in this research is TTCT which was first published in the USA. The test measures verbal-visual creativity and has reliability-validity studies. In the conclusion of the paper, a discussion has been made on relationship between the general creative thinking ability and architectural education.

This study aims to focus on architectural design process through learning styles that are 'accommodating', 'diverging', 'assimilating' and 'converging' as stated in the Experiential Learning Theory of Kolb. A research was conducted to evaluate the effects of learning style preferences on the performance of design students in a design process. It was found that there were statistically significant differences between the performance scores of students having diverse learning styles at various stages of design process. Also, it was found that performance scores of all students having different learning styles had increased at the end of the design process where the progress of assimilating learners were the highest and accommodating learners the lowest.

Although Istanbul holds the first place among the other cities where gated communities are mostly built, "gated" settlements are observed in every large and medium sized cities of Anatolia. This new kind of dwelling, which is totally separated from the rest of the city by walls, fences and security installations, is seen as a result of social and economic changes in community. Although private investors design gated residential complexes mainly for higher-income households, gated housing settlements are built for upper-middle and middle income groups, as well. This paper focuses on the gated communities in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and attempts to analyse the main reasons of the inhabitants living in a gated settlement. In this empirical study, two gated communities from different parts of Ankara are chosen and a survey was conducted with the inhabitants. Besides their physical characteristics, the social and economic features are examined.
