Summary: It feels like there’s a glass wall in front of you, setting you apart from true bliss and it’s so much more cruel than a solid, cement wall could ever be, because, at least, if you couldn’t see, you wouldn’t anticipate, you wouldn’t envy, you wouldn’t tremble with longing and despair… But, maybe, that should be enough for you. Because she is Elena and she is alive not to love you another day and you are alive to hope another day and have that hope crush down one more day.

Summary:You feel split in two, as if dichotomized by the hands of the most exceptional surgeon, but, still, it is no comfort.
Because this incision, however precise, still causes you to feel fragmented and imperfect.
Because, however you try to compartmentalize your feelings for Stefan and Damon, they still, somehow, end up in the same space, causing conflict and confusion and anguish.

Summary:It's like she is saying that if it were up to her you would never spend another minute without touching each other, feeling each other. And you know it is true, so all you can do is nod, because if you part your lips now, it will be to feel her, taste her, kiss her into sweet oblivion, till nothing else matters, but you know it does, so you just nod and you hope that your pain doesn't show on your face, because you don't want to hurt her anymore.

Author's Notes: I'm mostly a Damon/Elena shipper, so the mere fact that I felt the need to write this speaks volumes about the impact this scene had on me and the perfection that was Paul's acting in it. I am not ashamed to admit that it moved me to tears!
