Situations: Cultural Studies in the Asian Context | Yonsei University (original) (raw)

Situations: Cultural Studies in the Asian Context is an international print journal covering cultural studies in Asia and the Asian diaspora. The subject of cultural studies is understood to include novels, poetry, short and full-length fiction; film, television, theatrical and operatic performance; pop music, advertising and fashion; social and cultural movements; new media, including Facebook, Twitter and related mobile technologies.

We are open to a wide set of approaches, including those that offer a science-based or quantitative methodology. We welcome discussions of ideology and class, region and nation, race and ethnicity, sexuality and gender. We follow developments in stylistics and semiotics, history and philosophy, evolutionary psychology and biological anthropology, feminist and queer theory, literary and media theory, museum and art history studies.

Situations: Cultural Studies in the Asian Context publishes full-length essays, translations of important documents, and book reviews of relevant recent publications. Other material will be seriously considered if the editors believe it to be useful.

Authors interested in appearing in Situations should send the initial version of the essay, with an accompanying 200-word abstract, as a Word attachment to the editor’s e-mail address. The document should follow the Chicago Style system for bibliographic reference.

The author’s name should only appear on the title page of the contribution, and all references to the author’s own work in the in-text citation and bibliography should be kept strictly neutral to avoid the accidental uncovering of authorial identity.

Submissions must not be under consideration for any other publication. Authors must secure permissions for any copyrighted illustrations. Articles cannot be previously published nor can they be posted online for at least twelve months after publication.

Please include with your submission details about your mailing address, department fax, and your e-mail address.

Situations endeavors to report on the outcome of submissions within two months.

Situations is published twice a year. The price of a current single number is 10,000 won. The cost of a year’s subscription is 30,000 won for institutions; 20,000 won for individuals; 15,000 won for students. All those subscribing from outside Korea should add 10,000 won to cover the cost of postage.
