- On 23 October, we attended the 🪸Climate Change Adaptation and Gender Mainstreaming Dialogue 2024 hosted by SANBI, the Department of Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities (DWYPD), and the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) and led by Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts. The focus was on the need for gender equality to be integrated into 🪸climate adaptation strategies and practices, something which 🦁Flanders has been actively promoting in its cooperation programmes. In his opening remarks, General Representative Thomas Castrel explained that Flanders' gender-responsive strategies comprise a gender policy and action plan, as well as the integration of gender as criterion for partner selection. 🦁Flanders sees gender mainstreaming in in its partner organisations as an indispensable component of sustainable climate change mitigation, adaptation and the just transition to a 🌳green economy.#gendermainstreaming #climatechangeisreal #sustainability #greeneconomy Flanders Chancellery and Foreign Office Departement Kanselarij en Buitenlandse Zaken South African National Biodiversity Institute Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE)
