Today's understanding of street cultural heritage is usually limited within the criteria of mater... more Today's understanding of street cultural heritage is usually limited within the criteria of material authenticity of architecture, which was laid down by Liang Sicheng, the founder of Modern Chinese Architecture. This leads to the crisis of protecting the mundane neighborhood heritage whose material authenticity failed to be recognized. The paper intends to break down the boundaries between tangible and intangible cultural heritage and the limits of Western heritage paradigm by seeking Chinese indigenous cultural value and understanding of neighborhood heritage, particularly the perspectives represented in Chinese ancient gazettes. Key notions, such as cultural fabric, fragment, seeking Chinese value of benevolence in the description of cultural heritage and etc. are explored. Key words: cultural fabric; neighborhood; heritage; indigenous discourse 在都市化进程中,我国诸多的古街区正面临快速消失的处境,这种消失既 表现为日积月累的渐进性侵蚀,也有城市规划中整块拆除。不管是哪种情况, 都与我们对古街区文化遗产意义的认知有关。我们较多地关注物质文化遗产, 如建筑、文物等,而忽视其背后无形文化遗产价值。由此,一旦建筑本身的原 真性和历史性得不到确认,就会简单地以为不具有保护价值。殊不知,遗迹、 遗址乃至上面的一草一木都可能有重要的文化价值。为此需要一种能打破物质 与非物质文化的界线,形成能反映中国传统理念的古街区遗产认定方式,特别 是能从那些看似普通的街区里把握到背后无形遗产当下意义。而要做到这一 点,我们不能只停留在现行西方文化标准下建立起来的文化遗产的认识框架, 而要回到中国古代的坊巷文脉里,考察各种地方志是如何认识、记载和彰显街 区文化遗产的。 关于坊巷的定义,清嘉庆十六年《西安县志》(衢州曾名西安县)称"城 内有隅郭内有坊,直曰街,曲曰巷" [1]231 。坊巷在古代曾经是一种行政管理体 制,"唐制百戸为里,五里为乡。四家为邻。四邻为保。在城邑为坊。田野为 村" [2] 。但坊巷文化不能只从行政结构里解读,坊巷自周代即有之, 《尚书·毕

This paper views teacher learning as the nourishment of life rather than the mastery of expertise... more This paper views teacher learning as the nourishment of life rather than the mastery of expertise, and curriculum innovation as the reclaiming of authentic language rather than rational manipulation of curriculum systems. The perspective allows the traditional notion of knowledge-based teaching and teacher education to be challenged by asking a philosophical question about teachers' being. Based on a case study of tertiary English-language teachers in China, the paper elucidates the nature of teacher learning and curriculum change. It shows how a new educational object, rather than being designed beforehand, emerges in advance of participants' consciousness. The study combines narrative analysis of the change with a philosophical inquiry about teacher and learning. It is built around extensive investigation of actual curricular texts and interaction. r
