ummm ok so idk where the other mods have gone these days. They are a mysterious lot and I have a sneaking suspicion that...actually I have no suspicions I don't know what they are doing LOL. So it's up to me, and the few other members here ^.^ *waves* to make do with what we've got.
So tell me, what is annoying you these days?
I'm tempted to have a go at the loser that lives somewhere near me who thinks its ok to roar up and down our street on a motorbike in the early hours of the morning >:O But somehow I don't think they would be intimidated by a girl with a >:O face who has frizzy hair and pink pajamas on shaking their fist at them from the side of the road. DO THEY APPRECIATE THE WONDERS OF SLEEP? I DON'T THINK SO. ugh.
Ok so there was my lame excuse for a rant. So go for it.

Ahh opera! The cultural feast with thrumming classical music, somewhat melodramatic theatre, soaring sopranos and lusty tenors and baritones. The audience is typically viewed as including the upper class snooty members of society, the eccentric artsy types or generally the people with a more mature taste in music and concerts. However at the West Australian Opera and Symphony Orchestra's performance of Puccini's famous and much-loved opera 'Madama Butterfly', it seemed as if nearly every man and his dog made an appearance. Thousands of people flooded the Supreme Court Gardens (including myself) to attend the free concert supported by the Perth International Arts Festival.
I would like to firstly, thank PIAF for making sure musical culture is accessible to all regardless of rank or income. And secondly, to the WA Opera and Symphony Orchestra for performing 'Madama Butterfly', as it is a beautiful, yet melancholy, story with stunning music. However, I would NOT like to thank the two very rude concert-goers in front of us sitting on HIGH CHAIRS in a sit-down park event. Clearly they thought it would be okay to block everyone's views. Well guess what? It isn't! I find it pertinent to discuss theatre etiquette here:
- Just because it is a 'free' event, doesn't mean you are free to block the view of people behind you deliberately.
- Stomping all over everyone else's picnic blankets and speaking loudly whilst a piece of theatre is enjoyably being viewed in silence by everyone else is not acceptable.
- Leaving your rubbish on the floor for everyone else to pick up is thoughtless and unfair.
And lastly in this small, although justified, rant I would like to also mention that the people who blocked the view the whole night also blocked the view for their kids sitting right behind them! Usually parents want to give their kids the chance to experience something new and interesting, but no the poor kids were left to sit behind their parents without even being able to see the screens, let alone the stage.
Nonetheless I had a great time, despite the view-blockage and freezing wind from the river. The chicken ceasar salad I had for dinner was also very enjoyable, and a perfect meal to compliment the operatic setting that night. Festivals are always fun z!z'ers ... but then again theatre, music and concerts are almost always a great experience are they not??

Hola fellow z!ziners :] how is life currently going for you? I thought I'd share this little gem of a video with you of Wayne Coyne from 'The Flaming Lips' as he rolls amongst the crowd in his space bubble:
That is some pretty cool crowd interaction right there, and rather unique. Does it bother you when bands, live in concert or in general, may seem detached from their fans? I think most mainstream bands that feel the clutches of fame find it harder to connect with an arena sized audience compared to a little club crowd. Is just receiving and hearing the music good enough? Or should all bands make extra effort to connect with their audiences live.
