A7r5 (original) (raw)
This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected. By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
A7r5 (rat, DB1X, aorta thoracic, embryonic)
SPECIES: rat, DB1X
TISSUE/ORGAN: aorta thoracic, embryonic
ECACC catalog code: 86050803
Morphology: Flat 'ribbon-like' cells differentiating to parallel arrangs of spindle shaped cells.
Description: Rat BDIX smooth muscle embryonic aorta
Viruses: See Properties
Depositor: Obtained from ATCC, USA
No restrictions. Patent: None Specified By Depositor
Properties: Products: Muscle-type isoenzymes Applications: Biochemical and biophysical studies
Available in the following LABORATORY:
- Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 3-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37C. The cells grow in clumps.
Passages: 9; Derived from the thoracic aorta of an embryonic BDIX rat. As cells achieve the stationary phase there is an increase in myokinase and creatine phosphokinase (CPK) activity. After cessation of cell division a muscle type CPk isoenzyme is synthesised.
Research council deposit: No; Price Code: A;
Validated by: isoenzymes (species confirmation)
Availability in cell line catalogues: ATCC: CRL 1444
