BE10-Intermediate (original) (raw)
This is the complete description of the cell line that you selected. By clicking on a generic term (e.g., SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding index (e.g., index of species), while by clicking on a specific term (e.g., retinoblastoma) you will go to the list of corresponding cell lines (e.g., retionoblastoma cell lines).
BE10-Intermediate (rat, brain, fetal, premalignant)
SPECIES: rat
TISSUE/ORGAN: brain, fetal
TUMOR: premalignant
ECACC catalog code: 93040119
Description: Rat, BDIX, fetal brain, pre-malignant
Viruses: See Properties
Depositor: Dr J Roscoe, Dept. of Histopathology, University College and Middlesex School of Medicine, London, UK (Originator)
No restrictions. Patent: None Specified By Depositor
Properties: Applications: Study of changes in the latent period of carcinogenesis
Available in the following LABORATORY:
- Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 15% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:5 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-2x100,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 10-15% CO2; 37C.
Passages: 26; Produced by passaging the latent period line BE10-Early (93040118) beyond passage 17. The cells possess elevated levels of tissue plasminogen activator activity, are not tumourigenic in BDIX rats and do not form colonies in agar. Do not be use beyond passage 40 as cell properties alter. The BE10 culture was originally derived 2 days after a single dose of ethylnitrosourea to pregnant rats. The control culture BE11 was derived 2 days after exposure to buffer.
