DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 2% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 2% Vitamins + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:2 to 1:3 i.e. seeding at 3-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin; 5% CO2; 37C.
Passages: 13; Karyotype: 2n = 46
Derived from skin tissue taken from an 8 year old Negro male with asymptomatic galactosemia, despite lacking cell galactose-1-phosphate uridyl transferase. Sibling of CHP 3 (M.W.) (ECACC No. 90102536) with the same enzyme deficiency whose was symptomatic. Cultures will retain characteristics for at least 30 passages
