An ornamental bracket or console, usually in the form of a scroll with acanthus,supporting the cornice.

Block modillion: A modillion in the form of a plain block Classical modillions are usually in the form of a scroll with acanthus leaves; later modillions are sometimes plainer, as in block modillions

Found in classical Greek and Roman architecture and derivatives, including Beaux Arts Classicism, Federal, Georgian Revival, Greek Revival, Neoclassicism, Renaissance Revival styles.
