Well, yes I was thinking about something like that drawing explaining the relationship between demuxer, decoder etc that was in that book chapter you wrote, and extending it with some more info, like the most important places to look at if you wanted to add a new one to MPlayer/ffmpeg.

* Live-CDs, we wanted to make one last year, it did not get finished in time..

* Collect donations, sell CDs with multimedia software on it. We were asked about this constantly the last two years. Download seems to be nice, take away better...

Not sure if that live-CD thing will ever work out well - it also eats up a lot of space on the CD while almost everyone will already have a supported OS. I would be more for a CD with lots of different packages (binary, source, etc.) and some free video (there are some I find quite nice at www.theforce.net, but I didn't really see any kind of license anywhere :-( ).
