I don't believe I suggested otherwise.

All I'm asking for is that there is a commitment to replace those final bits first, before moving on to, no doubt, more challanging and interesting projects.

I'm sure you also don't want to see this end up as another item on http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/Partial_Transitions (which isn't even a complete list).
