That's nothing a simple portupgrade -o net/avahi -f mDNSresponder wouldn't take care of .. assuming net/avahi's mDNSresponder support can be used as a drop-in-replacement. Please correct me if i am oversimplifying things here ...
If you have both howl and mDNSResponder portupgrade -f won't work,
