that people can compile their ports. This is way more important than the poppler/xpdf issue, since a lot more applications, including many which aren't per-se KDE applications or part of the KDE distribution, depend on kdelibs and thus this conflict affects much more users.

We can turn the compat-code back on and adjust the kdelibs dependency with the next KDE update if it turns out to work okay.

KDE is going to use them anyway in future version. Sure, if you say so.
