Most, yes, but most people are happy with UnboundLocalError too. The business about nested functions not being able to see each other was a FAQ regardless, and Aaron Watters wrote the FAQ Wizard blurb about it. This FAQ entry was distinct from the FAQ entry about nested functions not being able to see the locals in enclosing functions, despite that they were really the same issue, because people who understood the latter just didn't see the connection to the former without additional words.

So the answer to my original question:

is either "yes", or "no, but I eventually left such explaining to others, and so have nothing to forget" .
