You'd have to be very careful to design the struct in such a way that you'd have good compatibility. Sure, but it can be done. The alternative would be a PyInitializeN() call with many parameters. Would that be preferrable?
I'm unsure. I'm almost tempted to say I'd like to pass in a char ** and use environ-style (we're not really worried about performance here).
