That fails because funcname is readonly. Any chance this restriction can be loosened up? Good idea, independent from decorators; please add it to the PEP!
Quick question: would it be better to allow any object to be assigned to func_name and fix the (two, for core C code anway) places this matters or only allow strings to be assigned to func_name?
I'm thinking probably the latter.
