The PEP for Py2.4 got updated and the dates were pushed back to September. Is there any reason that we couldn't get a first alpha out in early June or late May?
Short of generator expressions, Py2.4 is already in good shape for an alpha. I expect generator expressions to be hammered out shortly and will soon be able to devote my full energy to wrapping it up. The statistics and Decimal modules are almost ready for prime time. Unless someone has a specific summer plan to work on another major feature (perhaps attribute lookup), I do not expect any significant developments May through September that would warrant holding up 2.4.
I was actually hoping to also get decorators in, but I haven't decided on the syntax yet. It's between before or after the argument list.
