Of course, I would say. There's no reason to forbid this in Py3k.

And you would be right. Guido has always said that classes would act as if they inherited from object by default. There are no plans to change the syntax of how you can specify inheritance in Python 3. All that is changing is what the default is when you specify no superclasses.
