We (the pythonmac-sig mailing list) seem to have converged (almost -- still talking about the logo) on a new download page for MacPython, to replace the page currently at http://www.python.org/download/download_mac.html. The strawman can be seen at http://bill.janssen.org/mac/new-macpython-page.html.
How do I get the bits changed on python.org (when we're finished)?
