Please, I don't much care about the fine points of the function's semantics, but PLEASE rename that function to are_close. Every time I see this subject in my email client I have to think for a few seconds what the hell 'areclose' means. This time it's not just because of the new PEP 8, 'areclose' is really really hard to read.
