Modified: python/branches/release24-maint/Lib/fileinput.py python/branches/release24-maint/Lib/test/testfileinput.py python/branches/release24-maint/Misc/NEWS Log: Patch #1337756: fileinput now accepts Unicode filenames. Is that a new feature? I thought that wherever a filename is accepted, it can be unicode too. The previous behavior was a bug in any case, since it treated the unicode string as a sequence of filenames. Would you fix that by raising a ValueError?

No, but from the text in the NEWS file things sounded a lot like a feature rather than a bug fix.
